Video: Armenia Presents Its Peace Treaty Proposals to Azerbaijan, Says Pashinyan
Armenia has completed the next phase of work on the draft peace and normalization agreement with Azerbaijan, as stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan before the start of the government meeting yesterday.
“Our proposals have been conveyed to the Azerbaijani side. This means that by proposing, we refer to the complete draft of the document with our suggestions. We have also submitted the document to the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group,” he said.
Pashinyan noted that the work on the draft is being carried out with the following logic: to obtain a document that will be ready to be signed at any moment. He emphasized that it is clear that the document must also be acceptable to Azerbaijan, and they hope that the progress observed after three rounds of negotiations can be developed.
“Our vision is such that the document should contain a logic of agreements, a system of checks and balances that would exclude any scenario of disrupting lasting and sustainable peace. The essence of this is that the signing of the document should not turn into a war; rather, it should genuinely signify lasting peace,” the Prime Minister stated.
He added that this peace agreement would guarantee lasting and sustainable peace, and having such a document is the commitment of him and the government. Pashinyan noted that he is ready to take on and bear such responsibility.
