VIDEO: "Almost all Kurdish-populated areas in Turkey have suffered". The Kurdish community held a protest

In front of the UN office in Yerevan, the Kurdish community is protesting the 24th anniversary of Abdullah Öcalan's imprisonment. They believe that Öcalan has been unjustly sentenced and are calling on the world to pay attention to the biased policies of the Turkish authorities towards the Kurds.

Representatives of the Kurdish community delivered a letter outlining their demands to the UN office. It is worth noting that Kurdish revolutionary and political figure, the founder and former leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, Abdullah Öcalan has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Turkey. He has been incarcerated on Imrali Island since 1999.

The Kurdish protesters also addressed the deaths recorded among the Kurdish population due to powerful earthquakes. “Almost all Kurdish-populated areas in Turkey and Syria have been impacted by the devastating earthquake, with tens of thousands injured, casualties, and many left homeless. Most of those regions are inhabited by the Kurdish people, and Turkey has provided very little assistance to the affected areas. The army and police could have been deployed, but they did not do so,” said Knyaz Hasanov, a Kurdish MP from the Civil Contract party, who participated in the protest along with representatives of the Kurdish community, condemning the inaction and indifference of the Turkish authorities.
