Photos: Silver Artifacts Found in Foreign Passenger's Luggage Transferred to the Museum of History
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia has transferred silver artifacts, which serve as material evidence, to the custody of the Museum of History of Armenia. The Prosecutor General's Office has presented the backstory regarding how these silver items entered the custody of the prosecuting authority.
In 2006, luggage belonging to a foreign national was inspected at the "Zvartnots" customs checkpoint, where 26 undeclared silver items of cultural value were discovered (valued at that time at a total of 3 million 667 thousand drams). In 2007, the criminal proceedings were suspended due to the defendant being outside the borders of Armenia. However, on December 29, 2022, the preliminary investigation was resumed.
On January 3, 2023, the criminal case was received by the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, and among other decisions, on February 7, 2023, it was decided to hand over the recognized material evidence, the silver artifacts, to the Museum of History of Armenia for preservation.
