Head of the Patrol Service Dismissed: What Is the Reason?
The head of the Patrol Service at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arthur Umrshatyan, has been dismissed from his position. The information was confirmed in a conversation with Auroranews.am by the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
When asked whether he was dismissed or if he resigned, the press office stated that they could not provide further details. The question remained unanswered whether the dismissal was related to the actions of the patrol officers during the incident involving a missing Hummer driver in central Yerevan on February 10.
Additionally, according to MediaHub, both Head of the Patrol Service Arthur Umrshatyan and Commander of the 2nd Battalion Lyova Badalyan have been dismissed. These dismissals are connected to a scandalous incident that occurred last Friday at Republic Square.
It was reported that a service investigation has been initiated by the internal security department of the Armenian police against those officers who participated in the controversial operation to stop the driver of the Hummer, who was allegedly exhibiting hooligan behavior in central Yerevan on that Friday.
It should be noted that the patrol officers struggled for about 40 minutes to stop Gegham Sahakyan, a 25-year-old who was under the influence of drugs and later fled after parking the vehicle. Thanks to the professional and operational work of the local police department, the driver was found and taken to the central police station about 20 minutes later.
