Even After Losing Their Job, Individuals Will Continue to Benefit from Health Insurance System, Avanesyan

The Minister of Health, Anahit Avanesyan, stated that individuals will continue to benefit from the health insurance system for a certain period even after losing their job. She made this announcement during a press conference held today.

“When a person loses their job, their insurance package will continue to be in effect for a certain period. During the work discussions, we are considering a timeframe of 3-6 months. This means that if a person has paid into the insurance system and has been a working citizen, but is laid off or quits their job, they should still remain in the system for a certain time,” she noted.

According to the minister, students will also be included in the package in exchange for an insurance premium. The government’s specific subsidies for them still need to be calculated.

The head of the health department pointed out that preliminary estimates show citizens pay almost double for a single examination and an average cost surgery compared to the amount of their insurance premium.
