Armenian Bar Association Appeals to the CCBE
The Armenian Bar Association has approached the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) in response to a case of violence against lawyers, seeking a strong reaction from international organizations. This information was reported by the Armenian Bar Association.
“The Bar Association will pursue a fair resolution to the situation created by the disreputable behavior of police officers and hold accountable those responsible before the law,” the statement reads.
It is worth noting that on February 10, the President of the Bar Association, Simon Babayan, announced that police officers beat lawyers Marzpet Avagyan and Emmanuel Ananyan, representing the interests of a minor defendant, at the Erebuni police department on February 9.
On February 14, the police provided clarification, assuring that it was the operational officers who had been subjected to violence, not the lawyers.
