Invalidation of Illegally Obtained Driver's Licenses Based on Prosecutor's Motion

The Office of the Prosecutor General announced on October 21, 2022, that the Anti-Corruption Court had issued a guilty verdict against 28 individuals for illegally obtaining driver's licenses in exchange for bribes. This information was reported by the public relations department of the Prosecutor's Office.

The aforementioned individuals were found guilty of the alleged offenses and were subject to various fines.

On December 19, 2022, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a motion with the Police Department (currently the Ministry of Internal Affairs) to invalidate driver's licenses that citizens had illegally acquired, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Principles of Administrative Procedure and Administrative Proceedings.

Taking into account the verdict of the Anti-Corruption Court and the Prosecutor's motion, the Police (Ministry of Internal Affairs) declared the defendants' driver's licenses invalid; a corresponding entry has been made in the electronic register of the Traffic Police.

It is worth noting that citizens were charged in a criminal case initiated by the investigative department of the National Security Service and examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee, after they allegedly offered various sums of bribes (approximately 3 million 10 thousand drams) to an inspector in the Driver's Licensing Division of the Traffic Police in Yerevan in order to unlawfully acquire driver's licenses.
