Thousands of Syrians Express Desire to Adopt Infant Born in Rubble
A Syrian girl, born by her mother in the debris following the recent devastating earthquake, now has a name. As reported by the Daily Mail, she has been named Aya, which means "miracle" in Arabic. The publication notes that this is a fitting name for the newborn, who has survived such harsh conditions, unlike her mother.
It is important to remember that Aya is one of many orphans who survived the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Monday. In many cases, orphaned children are taken in by thousands, doctors and experts have reported. However, very often, surviving relatives also have to deal with the issues caused by the earthquake.
In the case of newborn Aya, after being discharged from the hospital, she will be taken in by her paternal uncle. Meanwhile, thousands of people have offered to adopt the girl Atyaha. Currently, the man's wife is breastfeeding Aya alongside her own child.
