American SpaceX Restricts Ukraine's Use of Starlink Satellites for Military Purposes

American SpaceX has restricted Ukraine's use of Starlink satellites for military purposes, particularly for the management of drones, said the company's president, Gwynne Shotwell.

“Starlink Internet was never intended to be weaponized,” Shotwell stated, as reported by Reuters.

Speaking about the Ukrainian use of Starlink services for drone management, Shotwell mentioned that the company has methods through which SpaceX can limit such use of internet systems.

The company's president added that the use of Starlink networks for military purposes by Ukrainian drones is not included in the agreement signed between Kyiv and SpaceX.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced the news about the creation of drone companies.

Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that Ukraine expects to receive 10,000 Starlink terminals from Germany in February.

Starlink is a next-generation satellite network designed to provide broadband internet access anywhere in the world. It has been reported that nearly 20,000 Starlink terminals have been delivered to Ukraine, and this satellite connection is actively used by Ukrainian military personnel.
