VIDEO: Attempt to Steal from ATM and Blow It Up

On January 31 at 3:35 AM, four masked individuals attempted to explode an ATM and steal from it using technical means on Andranik Street. This was reported by the Police of the Republic of Armenia in a press release.

“It was the night of January 31 at 3:35 AM when surveillance cameras captured unusual movement on Andranik Street in the capital. Four masked individuals were trying to steal from the ATM using technical tools. They had completed half the operation and were about to set off an explosion when a police officer on duty at the bank heard noises. The bank was under the protection of the Police State Protection Service. The on-duty officer intervened, causing the thieves to leave their tools and flee the scene.

The results of days of operational-investigative collaborative work became evident on February 4. The law enforcement authorities learned that the group members intended to leave the country and were located in Stepanavan. Last night at 9:30 PM, as they were reportedly packing their bags, they were arrested in Stepanavan and were transported along with one of the suspects' Honda vehicle to the Malatya police station, eventually being presented to the territorial investigation department.

On February 6, with the court's decision, law enforcement searched their vehicle, discovering a factory-numbered Glock pistol loaded with nine bullets. We have repeatedly informed that ATMs are equipped with special devices, and in the case of technical interference with an ATM, ink is poured onto the banknotes, rendering them unusable. Even if the theft were successfully completed, the cash would become worthless,” the press release stated.
