VIDEO: Citizens Ordered and Sold Medications Through Social Media

The Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department of the State Revenue Committee has uncovered illegal sales of medications and vitamins through social media platforms.

According to the information received by the department, a resident of Yerevan, identified as M. S., was acquiring pharmaceutical products via the "Amazon" online platform and advertising the sales through a Facebook page. During the operations carried out by the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department, arrangements were made via phone call with the citizen regarding the acquisition of the advertised products.

At a pre-arranged location, M. S. sold medications totaling 45,000 drams in cash to employees of the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department on two separate occasions. The products included "Advil-Ibuprofen," "Vitamin D3," "Neurobalance, Zinc, Magnesium, and Vitamin B6." The operational and investigative measures revealed that the citizen did not have a state registration for conducting business activities as prescribed by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia and was not registered with the tax authorities.

According to information from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, the purchased "Advil-Ibuprofen" tablets are classified as medications. It was also established that the citizen was engaged in illegal entrepreneurial activities, including the sale of medications. A report was compiled based on Article 407 of the Tax Code and was sent to the Committee's legal department for administrative proceedings.

The State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia urges citizens to refrain from purchasing potentially harmful medications and vitamins of questionable origin through social media platforms.
