VIDEO: 50 New Ambulances Equipped with Modern Equipment to Serve Yerevan Residents

The ambulance fleet of Yerevan has been completely updated. Starting today, 50 new vehicles equipped with modern equipment will replace the previous fleet and serve the citizens. This information was reported by the Yerevan City Hall.

Yerevan Deputy Mayor Gevorg Simonyan, along with the acting head of the Health Department of the City Hall, Yakov Asatryan, and the director of the Ambulance Service, Taguhi Stepanyan, inspected the new vehicles and got acquainted with their capabilities alongside the healthcare workers.

“In addition to receiving new vehicles, the list of medical equipment has also been expanded, meaning our healthcare workers now have additional tools to organize their work more efficiently and quickly, thereby reducing the average response time,” emphasized Deputy Mayor Gevorg Simonyan.

Out of the 50 vehicles, 38 were a gift from the government of Japan to Armenia, while the remaining 12 were provided by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. The ambulance service handles over 750 calls daily, and on public holidays, this number can rise to 1200.

“The 2023 budget includes a 20% increase in the salaries of junior and intermediate healthcare staff in Yerevan's ambulance service. Further increases in the salaries of senior healthcare workers are also planned,” added Yakov Asatryan, the acting head of the Health Department.
