Who Did Zhanna Andreasyan Propose for the Head of the Education Inspection Body?

According to the "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper, after 9 months, the Education Inspection Body subordinate to the government will finally have a leader. During a meeting of the management council of the Armenian Education Inspection Body, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan proposed the appointment of Vagarshak Matinyan to that position.

The management council approved Matinyan's candidacy with a vote of 6 in favor and 1 against and recommended that it be presented to the Prime Minister for appointment. The fact is that since May 7, 2022, the Education Inspection Body has been without a leader, when Alexandr Shaghaghyan was removed from the position by a decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Last year, several other inspection bodies also saw leadership changes.

In September of last year, "Haykakan Zhamanak" reported that the Prime Minister’s office decided to dismiss almost all inspection leaders and appoint their 'preferred candidates' in those positions. It was also predicted that the head of the Market Surveillance Inspection Body Armen Kotolyan would be untouchable since he is part of the ruling team. Events unfolded as expected, and it took seven months to decide to finally appoint a head for the Education Inspection Body.

So, who is Vagarshak Matinyan, whose candidacy was proposed by Minister Andreasyan? “Haykakan Zhamanak” learned that he is a historian, co-author of the book "History of Armenia for 7th Grade," but has had no prior association with sectoral inspections. Naturally, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan’s opinion, who proposed his candidacy, played a decisive role in his selection. Moreover, Matinyan was the only candidate and was 'justly' chosen.
