Severe Cold in the US Claims at Least 10 Lives

A powerful ice storm in the southern US has claimed the lives of at least ten people, while more than half a million households in four states have lost power, according to American media reports.

The ice, sleet, and snow have brought four days of extreme cold to southern states.

“While the frigid rain has now stopped in the south and the central south, the danger remains as melting ice can still break trees and branches,” warned the National Weather Service.

Additionally, it is expected that temperatures in northern states will drop below freezing in some areas.
