Member of Gyumri Council from the ruling party arrested, relative of former Deputy Prime Minister

Today, Agasi Matevosyan, a member of the Gyumri Council from the ruling party, has been arrested along with three others from his circle. According to information received, they are suspected of robbing tourists. This was reported by Aravot.am, citing its sources.

Tourists lodged a complaint regarding their robbery with the officers of the patrol service conducting surveillance in the streets. The officers subsequently detained the council member and three others, bringing them to the police station in Akhuryan.

The police confirmed our information that based on the tourists’ complaints, the patrol service officers had detained four individuals and transferred them to the Akhuryan police station.

According to our sources, they were arrested by the decision of the Investigative Department of the Shirak Regional Investigative Committee.

It should be noted that the member of the Gyumri Council is the nephew of former Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan. Additional details will be provided as soon as clarifications are obtained from the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
