Angelina Jolie Visits House Where Militants Detained Women and Men

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie (Special Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees from 2001 to 2022) has visited Iraq. The Oscar-winning actress shared several photos on her Instagram page, detailing her activities in the war-torn country.

“It was an emotional day with my friend Nadia Murad, whom I had the honor of spending a day in Sinjar, Iraq,” Jolie wrote. She noted that people in Sinjar are recovering from the aftermath of conflicts and genocide, and Nobel laureate Murad is doing much to help the Yazidi community.

“She took me to the house in Kochu village where she grew up,” Jolie added. She also mentioned that Murad took her to an old school where militants from the Islamic State had detained women and men before enslaving and executing them. The actress emphasized that “many are still missing, and the fight for justice continues.”
