Deceived Village: Why Polish Farmers Are Closing the Border with Ukraine

Polish farmers have blocked the routes at the Polish-Ukrainian border to prevent grain trucks from entering the republic. They are protesting against the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. The simplified importation of Ukrainian grain and other food items into EU countries has created difficulties for local producers.

Earlier, Poland noted that in 2022, the import of certain crops from Ukraine increased hundreds of times, causing local farmers to struggle to sell their products.

“The reason for the protest is the uncontrolled influx of grain from Ukraine. It is not the quantity that is being controlled, but primarily the quality,” the organizers of the rally explained.

In the morning, representatives of the organization used tractors to block the roads in areas such as Okopy, Korczowa, Lubić-Krułewska, Medyka, and others. According to media reports, the protesters brought placards stating, “Polish products are healthy, technical grain is a symbol of deception and government corruption.”
