Schengen Visa Application Process to be Digitized

Schengen Visa Info official portal reports that the European Union aims to simplify the process of obtaining Schengen visas and plans to introduce a digital format for document submissions for tourists by 2026.

It is noted that on January 31, the EU Parliament approved a proposal to modernize the application procedure for foreign citizens wishing to enter the Schengen Area. According to the initiative, travelers wishing to enter the EU will have the opportunity to apply online for all necessary documents for a visa.

Subsequently, applications will be reviewed on one online platform, and stickers in passports are expected to be replaced with digital information.

The European Parliament has stated that the digitization of the entry document acquisition process will not only expedite the procedure and reduce the efforts required from tourists but also ensure uniformity of practice throughout the European Union.
