Decision to Close Malatia Market May Be Reconsidered; Regulatory Body Gives Time
The State Supervision Service of the Republic of Armenia informs that a meeting has concluded between the head of the State Supervision Service and the management and representatives of the Malatia Market, during which the issues identified by the regulatory body and the implementation of measures to address them were discussed.
It has been reported that an agreement was reached for the market owner, starting today, to undertake clear and intensive measures to resolve the identified issues that pose direct and immediate threats to fire hazards, their spread, and the safety of individuals. Only after these measures are taken will the question of lifting the ban on operating in the area be reconsidered.
The management has also been presented with the requirement to provide the remaining project documentation for the implementation of measures that, although they do not pose a direct threat of fire outbreak, are also in line with the requirements of fire safety regulatory legal acts.
The director of the company stated that a position regarding the execution of these works could only be provided after drafting a project and understanding the scope of necessary investments required.
Head of the regulatory body, Garegin Khachatryan, emphasized that if the management of the company does not present a clear timeline for the necessary investments, the market's operations will not resume.
