2027 European Gymnastics Championships to be Held in Armenia
The 2027 European Championships in artistic gymnastics for both men and women will be hosted in Yerevan, as announced by the President of the Armenian Gymnastics Federation, Gagik Vanyan, during a press meeting.
He stated that there was a strong desire to organize any international competition in Armenia, especially given the country’s impressive achievements in gymnastics. “After several discussions within the federation and with the support of the government, we applied to the international federation. We have world and European champions, and these results helped secure the opportunity for such a high-level competition to be held in Armenia. Of course, this is associated with enormous expenses, but thanks to the government, we were able to turn our great dream into reality—to host the European Championships in Yerevan,” noted Vanyan.
According to the federation president, this event will be one of the best, despite the significant work still needed. Germany and England also expressed interest in hosting the 2027 Championships in their countries. “Holding the European Championships is a major event. This was our dream; ultimately, this addresses the future of gymnastics. The challenges our champions have faced will not be encountered by our youth after hosting this event,” added the head coach of the Armenian gymnastics team, Hakob Serobyan.
According to Vanyan, Armenia will have four arenas that meet international standards, and for nearly 20 years, the country will face no issues regarding sports equipment.
