We consider the dissemination of unverified information related to peacekeepers unacceptable, says Artsakh Prosecutor's Office
The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh reports that yesterday various users on the social media platform Facebook disseminated information alleging that Russian military personnel carrying out peacekeeping missions in Artsakh had received payments from various citizens for the purpose of transferring them from Armenia to Artsakh, as well as having stolen goods entrusted to them.
The Prosecutor's Office clarifies that today individuals affected by the aforementioned incident have been invited to the Artsakh Prosecutor's Office. From their explanations, it has become clear that the Russian military personnel conducting peacekeeping operations in Artsakh have no connection to the incident, which occurred within the territory of Armenia involving an individual posing as a Russian soldier. Relevant measures are already being undertaken by competent authorities in Armenia to ascertain the identity of the individual and determine the quantity and value of the stolen goods.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh has established communication with the officials investigating the circumstances of the incident in Armenia and expressed its willingness to take all necessary measures for ensuring proper cooperation in facilitating an adequate investigation.
“We consider the dissemination of any unverified information related to Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh to be unacceptable, as it can unjustifiably tarnish their role and mission, create an artificial negative attitude towards them in society, and be exploited by our adversaries to the detriment of the interests of the Republic of Artsakh,” the statement from the Prosecutor's Office of Artsakh reads.
