European Union Imposes Sanctions on Iranian Drone Manufacturing Company
The European Union has imposed sanctions on the Iranian state corporation Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries Corporation, which is involved in drone manufacturing.
According to a publication in the EU's official journal, the restrictions against HESA were introduced in the context of the Russian military's invasion of Ukraine.
The documents indicate that Russia is utilizing HESA unmanned aerial vehicles in its operations in Ukraine.
As noted by Bloomberg, Russia and Iran have significantly strengthened their ties since the commencement of the war in Ukraine. The agency, citing the Iranian publication Donya-e Eqtesad, reported that Russia has become Iran's largest foreign investor. Since August 2021, Russia has spent approximately $2.7 billion on two oil projects in Iran's Ilam province.
