Unidentified Shooter Kills Multiple People in Los Angeles
Another shooting has occurred in California, USA, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to four others, according to reports from the Los Angeles Times, citing the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victims were inside a vehicle, while those injured were on the street. The incident took place in the Benedict Canyon area of Los Angeles. The suspect or suspects remain at large.
Earlier, it was reported that a shooting had taken place at Monterey Park, resulting in ten fatalities and 16 injuries. An unidentified man opened fire during Chinese New Year celebrations at Monterey Park. Initially, locals mistook the gunfire for fireworks.
The assailant was able to escape. Suspect Huu Can Tran had planned to carry out another attack at a dance studio. The Los Angeles Times has reported that “the suspect entered the 'Lai Lai' dance studio, possibly intending to kill two more people, but two community members disarmed the assailant, taking away his gun, and the man fled.” Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna stated that the suspect left in a white van, which was later discovered in Torrance. Inside the van, the body of the shooter was found.
The identities of the victims, including five women, are being clarified. They are all reported to be over 50 years old. Police believe that 72-year-old Huu Can Tran was the one who opened fire, although the motives behind his actions are still unknown.
