Christian Romero, defender for English club Tottenham and the Argentina national team, hopes that Lionel Messi will continue to play for the Argentina national team.

“Leo is the best player in the world. Whether he stays with the national team or leaves is his personal decision. If you ask me, I would like him to continue playing for the national team. I would tie him up and leave him at the training base until the next World Cup. He is very important for the team, he is our captain and a person who teaches us something every day. Messi is the leader; without him, everything would be different,” Romero is quoted by ESPN.

It is worth noting that Messi became the champion of the Argentina national team during the World Cup held in Qatar in 2022.
