PHOTOS: Fountains of Republic Square Covered in Trash, City Hall Responds

Tourists arriving in Yerevan are currently photographing a concerning sight: the fountains of Republic Square are covered in trash. This was reported on the Facebook page of Yerevan City Council member Izabella Abgaryan, who stated, "The fountains of the square shouldn't be in this condition for even an hour."

Auroranews.am reached out to employees at the Yerevan City Hall to understand why the situation has deteriorated in the heart of the city and when Republic Square will be cleaned up.

City Hall officials mentioned that the decorations placed in the square have not yet been fully dismantled and that work is currently in progress. "Once the dismantling of the decorations is completed, a complete and thorough cleaning of the area will immediately follow," they said.

When asked about the expected timeline for the completion of this work, they noted that there is no established schedule.
