West is Directly Involved in the Conflict, Says Peskov
The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated today that the transfer of tanks and other military supplies to Kyiv indicates direct Western involvement in the conflict. This comment comes in response to the decisions by the United States and Germany to send dozens of tanks to Ukraine.
“European capitals and Washington constantly assure that the provision of military supplies does not imply involvement, but we strongly oppose this approach. The actions of these capitals are clear signs of involvement, and this trend is increasingly intensifying,” Peskov said.
U.S. President Joe Biden asserted that the transfer of Western tanks does not pose an offensive threat towards Russia and is aimed at helping Ukrainians “improve their maneuverability in open terrain.”
President Zelensky has requested a significant number of tanks and other armored vehicles from the West, labeling them as an “iron fist” necessary to breach Russian defensive lines and push them out of the occupied territories.
“The course of the special military operation shows that the United States and NATO continue to take measures to prolong it and become parties to the military confrontation,” said Nikolai Patrushev, the Secretary of Russia's Security Council and a political ally of President Vladimir Putin.
