Seiran Ohanyan Interrogated as Witness in Secret Case

According to the newspaper "Hraparak": "The Chief Prosecutor has submitted 3 motions to deprive Seiran Ohanyan, the head of the "Armenia" parliamentary faction, of immunity, one of which has been brought forward in a secret regime, and it is presumed that the parliamentary session regarding this case will also be closed. It turns out that the so-called 'secret' case is not secret at all; another former Minister of Defense, Davit Tonoyan, has been in custody for a long time in this case. The case is being examined in court, and if the process were not delayed, it would have been resolved long ago, and Tonoyan would be in freedom.

Let us recall that after the 44-day war, a case was initiated in the NSS regarding alleged abuses in the process of acquiring military ammunition, specifically regarding the procurement of defective missiles, and charges were filed against 7 individuals, including not only Tonoyan but also the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Artak Davtyan, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Stepan Galstyan, businessman Davit Galstyan engaged in arms supply, and others.

According to law enforcement agencies’ version, military and defense officials, abusing their official positions, in preliminary agreement with the owner of the company "Moston Engineering", procured 4,232 expired military ammunition from the company, which had not been accepted due to non-compliance with technical requirements, to settle the obligations of the company towards the RA Ministry of Defense resulting from the privatization of the companies "Neitron GAM" and "Bagavan" in 2018.

Ohanyan has been interrogated in this case as a witness, stating that the missiles were imported to Armenia in 2011, but the Ministry of Defense did not buy them because it found them defective. "The supplier requested that these missiles remain in warehouses" so that they could later obtain a license and sell them to a third country."
