Ruben Vardanyan on the Letter from Artsakh Women to the President of the European Commission
Ruben Vardanyan, State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh and head of the operational staff, writes on his Telegram channel: "Today, women from Artsakh have addressed an open letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. They are calling for immediate intervention to stop Azerbaijan’s energy blockade of Artsakh. It is Ms. von der Leyen who is responsible for signing the agreement on increasing gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the EU.
Desperate mothers rightly demand that their children, just like children in EU countries, have the opportunity to live in warm and well-lit homes, have proper nutrition, attend school and kindergarten, and receive medical assistance. They have the right to a normal life, just like all children in the world. By cutting off gas supplies in winter and shutting off electricity, Azerbaijan and its leaders are depriving 30,000 children in Artsakh of this right.
During this crisis, women are demonstrating their determination and strength; they are our heroes and fighters for justice. Today, they show us how to endure hardships and remind us of our shared humanity. I welcome and support the initiative of our women. I admire their spiritual strength and resilience. And all those who can help them should do so. For the sake of life, for the sake of children, for the sake of the future, for the sake of Artsakh."
