Deputy Chief of Logistics Arrested in Connection with Fire at Soldiers' Barracks
In the village of Azat, located in the Gegharkunik region, a deputy chief of logistics and communal services of the Armenian Ministry of Defense's N military unit, identified as G.A., has been arrested in connection with a fire incident that occurred in the unit’s barracks.
The information was confirmed by Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, in an interview with Armenpress. “He has been arrested, charges have been filed, and a motion has been submitted to the court to impose pretrial detention as a measure of restraint,” Abrahamyan stated.
The fire, which broke out around 1:30 AM on January 19, resulted in the death of a conscript soldier in the barracks designated for the personnel of an engineering battalion of the N military unit.
