Ukrainian Armed Forces Abandon Soledar

Serhiy Cherevaty, a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has announced the loss of the city of Soledar, stating that the city is now under the control of Russian forces.

“After months of difficult battles, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have left Soledar and retreated to previously prepared positions on the outskirts of the city,” Cherevaty told Agence France-Presse, as reported by Vesti.ru.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation had reported establishing control over Soledar on January 12. According to the official representative, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, full control of this city allows for the severance of supply lines to Ukrainian troops in Artyomovsk, subsequently encircling and trapping the remaining units there.
