Turkey Will Not Leave NATO: Erdogan's Party Response
Erdogan's party has announced that Turkey will not leave NATO. Turkey is not even considering leaving NATO, stated Omer Celik, spokesman for the Justice and Development Party (AKP) led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Every election period we encounter such things (calls for Turkey to withdraw from NATO). These are not matters we are concerned about. The claims about the necessity of removing Turkey from NATO are unfounded. It is out of the question. We are one of the founding countries of NATO. They have no right to speak about it,” he said in a statement.
It is noteworthy that rumors had been circulating online suggesting that Turkey was preparing to leave NATO.
