Resignations Rock Ukraine: Who Are the Officials?
In a series of announced personnel changes, on January 24, a decision was made during the meeting of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers to dismiss four deputy ministers, according to РБК-Ukraine. Those dismissed include: Vyacheslav Shapovalov - Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Ivan Luker - Deputy Minister for Communities and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Vyacheslav Negoda - Deputy Minister for Communities and Territorial Development of Ukraine, and Vitaly Muzychenko - Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine.
Additionally, five heads of regional administration have been relieved of their duties. It is known that Vyacheslav Shapovalov, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, resigned due to a corruption scandal related to the procurement of food supplies for the needs of the armed forces. Earlier, Ukrainian media had published the results of a journalistic investigation which revealed, based on several documents, that the military department was purchasing food for soldiers at prices two to three times higher than what could be bought in stores in Kyiv.
It is also noteworthy that resignations have been submitted by the deputy head of the Ukrainian president's office and the deputy attorney general of the country.
