Germany to Supply Leopard Tanks to Ukraine

The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, has decided to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine. This is reported by Spiegel, citing sources within the government.

"The decision has been made—Germany will supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 battle tanks," Spiegel states.

According to the publication, Berlin also plans to approve tank shipments from other countries, such as Poland.

The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is considering sending a significant number of Abrams M1 tanks to Ukraine and may announce the deliveries within this week, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing American officials.

The publication also notes that such a procedure would regulate transatlantic disagreements over tanks, which "threatened to create rifts" in relations with Western allies.
