Clarification from the State Revenue Committee on the Situation Regarding Former Defense Ministry Complex Buildings

The Information and Public Relations Department of the State Revenue Committee has issued a statement regarding the situation concerning the buildings assigned to the State Revenue Committee in the Prowshyan community.

The statement highlights: "Considering the situation related to the buildings assigned to the State Revenue Committee in the Prowshyan community, the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia finds it necessary to provide the following information. According to the Government of Armenia's decision No. 621-A dated May 5, 2022, the land plot, buildings, and structures located at 5 Gevorg Chavush Highway in the Prowshyan community of Kotayk Province have been assigned to the State Revenue Committee of Armenia for the purpose of constructing a tax administration center.

Design work has been initiated in the mentioned area to start construction in the future. Residents from neighboring communities have been present in the designated buildings both before and after their transfer to the State Revenue Committee. Furthermore, periodic efforts have been implemented by the Armenian police to clear the illegally occupied area. In particular, on July 6, 2022, the act of property transfer-acceptance signed by the State Revenue Committee recorded the results of the inspections carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Defense, detailing the external and internal condition of the buildings.

During the inspections, it was observed that up to 10 individuals were present in the building area, and representatives of the police engaged them in explanatory work regarding the necessity of vacating the premises. However, by the end of 2022, the number of residents in the area sharply increased, which the State Revenue Committee immediately reported to law enforcement agencies.

The State Revenue Committee announces that technical inspections of the area have been carried out, confirming that the aforementioned buildings are categorized as emergency level 3. Additionally, over the years, property from the buildings, including doors and windows, has been stolen, and residing there may pose a danger to the lives and health of individuals.

At the same time, we would like to inform that the State Revenue Committee is not yet a subscriber for electricity at the mentioned address, and therefore, no actions related to the connection or disconnection of electricity supply could have been carried out or have been carried out."
