16 Citizens of Armenia Detained in Moscow
In Moscow, the police, using CCTV cameras, tracked and arrested more than a dozen Armenian citizens who had avoided military service in their homeland. This was reported to Life by a source.
According to the source, 16 foreigners were wanted for evading military service in their country. The citizens were apprehended in various parts of the city, mainly at metro stations in the capital. The youngest among the arrested is an 18-year-old student from an industrial college in Moscow, while the oldest is a 48-year-old man living without registration in the Mitischi district and not officially employed. The former was only recently placed on the wanted list in November 2022, while the latter has been sought since 2001.
All are currently in custody awaiting severe penalties. According to Article 327 of the RA, "Evasion from compulsory military service, training camps, or mobilization" carries a penalty of up to two years in prison.
