France and Germany Will Continue to Support Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron

France and Germany will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine in all areas, French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday.

On Sunday, a ceremony is taking place in Paris to mark the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Elysee Treaty, a friendship agreement between France and Germany, which was signed by the two countries' leaders Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer on January 22, 1963, at the Elysee Palace in Paris. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has arrived in the French capital to take part in the event. On the same day, the 24th meeting of the Franco-German Ministerial Council will be held.

“Our unwavering support for the Ukrainian people will continue in all directions. We will also continue to support the clear choice of the European Council to grant EU candidate status to Ukraine, as well as Moldova. And we will continue to accompany them, like the other candidate countries, on the path of the necessary reforms,” Macron said during a speech at the Sorbonne commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Franco-German treaty.
