Lavrov and ICRC President Discuss Situation in Artsakh
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric discussed the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and issues related to humanitarian cooperation with the committee on Friday.
In addition to Nagorno-Karabakh, they also talked about the humanitarian aspects of the Ukrainian crisis and the committee's work in Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Myanmar.
For nearly 40 days, Artsakh has been under blockade, with only Russian peacekeepers and vehicles of the International Committee of the Red Cross passing through the Lachin corridor, the sole route connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the world.
During the blockade, thousands of tons of essential goods have not been delivered to Artsakh, and today the Artsakh information headquarters announced that the supplies provided by the International Committee of the Red Cross and Russian peacekeeping forces constitute a negligible part of the needed items.
