US Announces $2.5 Billion Military Aid Package for Ukraine

The US authorities will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth $2.5 billion, announced the Pentagon. Kyiv will receive, among other things, ammunition for the Nasams air defense systems, 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and 90 Stryker armored combat vehicles.

The package also includes 53 MRAP armored transport vehicles, eight Avenger air defense systems, 350 HMMWV military cargo trucks, and HARM rapid-response anti-radar missiles. The total volume of assistance received by Ukraine from the US has already reached $26.7 billion, reports AP.

Just the day before, the Pentagon stated that US officials do not yet see the necessity of supplying Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine. The military department explained this by the high cost of maintaining the tanks. Media reports note that the delivery of these tanks may depend on whether German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agrees to send tanks to Kyiv.
