Ukrainian Army Losing Triple-Digit Number of Soldiers Daily in Bakhmut, German Intelligence Reports

The Federal Intelligence Service of Germany is concerned about the significant losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the battles for the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region.

According to Der Spiegel, representatives of the German foreign intelligence agency informed German politicians during a secret meeting in the Bundestag that the Ukrainian army is losing a triple-digit number of soldiers daily in the fighting near Bakhmut. The German intelligence service believes that the capture of Bakhmut by Russian forces will have serious consequences, as it will allow Russian troops to deepen further into Ukraine.

Officials noted that the Russian army has been operating with “ruthless brutality” near Bakhmut, throwing soldiers into attacks like “cannon fodder.” The intelligence service suggests that the significant losses among Russian soldiers do not play a substantial role in Russia's wartime strategy.
