Tigran Abrahamyan on the Deteriorating Situation in Artsakh

The situation in Artsakh is experiencing new manifestations of deterioration. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the ‘Honorable’ faction of the National Assembly, on his Facebook page.

He specifically noted: 'The interference of Azerbaijan in the operation of the gas pipeline that brings gas from Armenia to Artsakh has created nearly insurmountable problems. Many issues remain unresolved because Azerbaijan had previously damaged the only power line supplying electricity from Armenia to Artsakh, and the internal resources of Artsakh do not provide the possibility to ensure round-the-clock electricity for the entire region. If under the conditions of gas availability, the power outages occurred for 4 hours during the day, then in the absence of gas, the volume of electricity supplied to the population will be significantly reduced.'

'Even if the gas pipeline's operation is restored, but the power lines are not, the volume of electricity supplied to the population will still gradually decrease, although not at the same rate noticeable during the absence of gas. Just picture the situation for the people of Artsakh, from the inhumane conditions of heating their homes, restrictions on movement, to nearly a standstill of the economy in Artsakh, with all its potential serious consequences.'

Due to the gas, gasoline, and other fuel crises in Artsakh, the movement of vehicles and various means has come to a halt. This is particularly dire for emergency services, firefighting services, and other essential services.

When we add to this the problems related to food, medicine, and other necessities, the situation becomes catastrophic. There are many other issues as a consequence that are not visible from the outside, ranging from the reduction of thousands of jobs to serious psychological problems.

Without serious pressure on Azerbaijan, this issue will either not be resolved or will only be addressed under the fulfillment of Azerbaijan's preconditions. Despite a certain increase in pressures from international actors, the issue is still unresolved, indicating that these pressures have not yet yielded sufficient results.'
