Azerbaijanis Are Moving to Plan B: Naira Karapetyan
Former MP and head of the European Integration NGO, Naira Karapetyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "In the Council of Europe, it has been decided to hold other discussions outside the main agenda of the PACE, called side events: See how prepared the Azerbaijanis are, they have fabricated a whole lament to present their justification for closing the Berdzor corridor to the Europeans.
They cannot get out from under the ‘Eco’ balloon because no international observer is coming to Kashen to study, so now they are moving to Plan B. Plan B aims to please the Europeans while also hitting the Russians, claiming that Armenians are bringing mines through the corridor and checkpoints should be established, and the Russians are not ensuring their safety. I want to believe that our delegation and diplomats will participate in that event and will voice the reality."
It is important to note that on the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia on environmental grounds at the intersection near Shushi-Karin Tak. On December 13, the Azerbaijani side also cut off the gas supply to Artsakh, which was restored on the morning of December 16. The gas supply was interrupted again and then restored hours later on January 17.
On January 18, it became known that Azerbaijan had once again disrupted the operation of the only gas pipeline supplying Artsakh. Today, the Azerbaijani side partially opened the only gas pipeline entering Artsakh from Armenia, but due to low pressure, the gas supply in the republic will be restored with certain limitations.
Since January 9, the energy supply from Armenia to Artsakh has also been disconnected from the territory under Azerbaijani control. The Azerbaijani side is not allowing specialists to approach and understand the reasons, in order to carry out emergency recovery work if necessary. In Artsakh, electric energy is supplied with rotational shutdowns.
The Lachin corridor remains closed.
