Alen Simonyan Receives Motions to Initiate Criminal Proceedings Against Seyran Ohanyan
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, has received three motions from the Chief Prosecutor of the Republic, Anna Vardapetyan, regarding the authorization to initiate criminal proceedings against Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the 'Armenia' faction and former Minister of Defense. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the press secretary of the National Assembly, Tsovinar Khachatryan.
Previously, it was reported that the Chief Prosecutor of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, submitted three motions to National Assembly President Alen Simonyan regarding the agreement to initiate criminal proceedings against former Minister of Defense and head of the 'Armenia' faction Seyran Ohanyan.
“Alen Simonyan received the prosecutor's motion 4 hours ago. We have informed Mr. Ohanyan about this. This issue will be included in the agenda of the upcoming plenary session,” Khachatryan said.
It is noted that according to the first criminal case, Ohanyan has committed particularly large-scale waste (in two episodes). In the second criminal case, it was found that he, as a public official, used his position contrary to the interests of service and failed to fulfill his official duties, which negligently caused serious consequences. According to information from the third criminal case, Ohanyan has embezzled property of large scale through wasteful means.
Additionally, it should be noted that the next parliamentary session will start on February 7.
