Details on the Assault Case Against Ararat Mirzoyan: What the Arrested Individual Said

The daily newspaper "Joghourdyan" has revealed intriguing details regarding the case of the assault on former National Assembly Speaker and current Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan. The individual arrested in connection with the incident stated during his interrogation at the National Security Service that he had intended to hit Mirzoyan, but believes the blow did not connect.

Due to the interests of the investigation, we will not fully disclose the name of A.B., the arrested individual. It is worth mentioning that he is a resident of Yerevan, married, and has children.

Yesterday, the National Security Service announced that A.B., upon learning of mass disturbances occurring on September 27, 2020, near the government and National Assembly administrative buildings in Yerevan, joined the participants of the violent protests against Ararat Mirzoyan. He broke through the ranks of the protesters, approached Mirzoyan, who was already on the ground, and kicked him, thereby committing violence against him.

As a result of the violence inflicted by A.B. and other participants in the mass disturbances, Ararat Mirzoyan sustained numerous bodily injuries, lost consciousness, sustained damage to his eye, and was subsequently transported to the "Erebuni" medical center.

To date, no one who actually struck Mirzoyan has been identified. When law enforcement authorities do find someone, it later turns out that they did not hit Mirzoyan.
