VIDEO: We are ready to proceed with signing a peace agreement based on the Prague agreements, says Pashinyan
The statements made by the President of Azerbaijan are of a provocative nature. This was stated today, January 18, by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly.
“Our international communications show that the international community's perception of this situation is increasing, growing. Those statements aim to create escalation, and our correct response to those statements should also be a certain factor of stability in the region,” he noted.
According to the Prime Minister, Armenia is ready to proceed with the signing of a peace agreement based on the Prague agreements, while Azerbaijan's statements contradict the agreements reached. “The best option to keep the situation stable in the region is to pursue solutions through negotiations and political means. Just as we have assumed our readiness and responsibility, we are equally ready to continue,” he emphasized.
Pashinyan also stated that the international community acknowledges that the blockade of the Lachin Corridor and Azerbaijan's aggressive statements create new obstacles to establishing peace. “But the question is, who said that this is not exactly what Azerbaijan wants, to fully sabotage the peace process with such provocative statements? Our response should be asymmetrical. First, active international diplomacy, and strengthening institutional capacities within the country, bolstering state institutions, ensuring the reform agenda is not diverted, and not deviating from the peace agenda,” Pashinyan concluded.
