Video: Was Artsakh part of Azerbaijan for 70 years or not? Where were those shouting today? - KPK MP
Armenian National Assembly's KPK parliamentary group member Hakob Aslanyan stated on 24TV that Armenia cannot guarantee the security of Artsakh; today, Armenia itself needs security.
In response to the question about why Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan did not participate in the meeting with the Russian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers to raise the urgent issue of unblocking the Lachin corridor, the KPK MP remarked: “When one goes to negotiations, they do not do so on the condition that they treat one side fully loyally and friendly, while showing disdain for the other side. Let the Russian side not blame us unnecessarily; I can say something a bit painful, but the Russian side has never, for some unknown reason, been friendly towards us.”
Commenting on the statements coming from Artsakh that it cannot be part of Azerbaijan, Aslanyan said: “Was Artsakh part of Azerbaijan for 70 years or not? Where were those shouting today? I do not justify this; I am against it, but I ask: was Artsakh under the jurisdiction of the Russian Empire before it was included in Azerbaijan in 1921, or not? Under the Treaty of Gulistan in 1813, Artsakh belonged to Russia.”
