Red Cross Disclaims Involvement in Transport of 19 Children Returned from Artsakh

The International Committee of the Red Cross has stated that it had no involvement in the transport of 19 children returned from Artsakh to Armenia. This information was shared with Sputnik Armenia by Zara Amatuni, head of communication and prevention programs at the Red Cross office in Armenia.

Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Gegham Stepanyan, announced yesterday that 19 children had returned to Stepanakert from Armenia with the accompaniment of Russian peacekeeping forces.

"The issue of transporting children who remain in Armenia, along with other humanitarian issues, is under our watch. However, we can only provide support in this matter once such a decision is made by all parties and they reach out to us," Amatuni stated.

She mentioned that at this moment she cannot speak about whether there are agreements regarding the transport of a second group of children because the committee does not disclose preliminary agreements publicly. Nevertheless, according to Amatuni, there are ongoing discussions regarding this issue.
