Baku Ready to Sign Peace Agreement and Awaits Yerevan's Response, Says Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku is ready to sign a peace agreement with Yerevan based on five fundamental principles for the regulation of relations. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Aikhan Hajiyev.
He noted that the text of the peace agreement was presented by Azerbaijan for discussion in Geneva on October 2 of last year, and discussions on the document have continued in Washington. According to the official, Azerbaijan is now expecting Armenia's consent to hold a meeting to agree on that text.
Hajiyev's remarks came after the statement made today by the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. It should be noted that the Armenian foreign minister stated in the National Assembly today that Yerevan has been waiting for a month for Azerbaijan's response to its proposals regarding the peace agreement.
