Artsakh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh has issued a statement regarding the latest disruption of gas supply in Artsakh.

“On January 18, marking the 38th day of the blockade of Artsakh, Azerbaijan once again disrupted the operation of the gas pipeline from Armenia to Artsakh under its control, depriving the 120,000 residents of Artsakh of heating and hot water.

It is important to note that Azerbaijan’s interruptions of gas supply to Artsakh are of a periodic nature. The gas supply to Artsakh was also halted in March 2022 for more than 20 days, on the second day of the blockade on December 13 for 3 days, and again on January 17.

At the same time, Azerbaijan continues to deliberately obstruct the restoration works of the only high-voltage line connecting Goris to Stepanakert, which was damaged on January 9.

The organized and ongoing blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijani authorities, the creation of unbearable living conditions for the people, and the deepening humanitarian disaster are all aimed at one goal: to eliminate the people of Artsakh as such by depopulating the region. In this way, Azerbaijan seeks to completely close the question of the individual and collective rights of the people of Artsakh.

In this context, both individual and collective actions by the international community should be aimed at early prevention. We call on states to take all necessary measures to immediately stop Azerbaijan's genocidal actions against the people of Artsakh, in line with the universal commitment to the prevention of genocide.”
