VIDEO: Perhaps your position is to be generally abstained in parliament, in the country: Ruben Rubinyan to the opposition
The National Assembly of Armenia continues the work of its regular session, which started on January 16. The Vice President of the Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan, addressed the members of the 'Hayastan' faction, Arzvik Minasian and Arthur Khachatryan.
“You shouldn’t get nervous or upset about what I said; I am stating a very simple fact. You continuously, almost mechanically, vote abstained on almost all bills, without justifying the reasons for your vote. I believe that the citizens, including those who elected you, but not only those, one of whom I am, have the right to know what your positions are in the end. It may be that your position is to generally abstain in parliament, in the country, and in general, but that is another question,” said Rubinyan.
In response, Gegham Manukyan, a member of the 'Hayastan' faction, stated: “Mr. Rubinyan, I don’t know what you are upset about; perhaps some developments have occurred that upset you greatly. But one clear position exists: the government brings to the National Assembly all sorts of irrelevant bills, constantly changing every week, which do not significantly change anything in our country. We know for certain that this government has no agenda in our country. We have clearly shown that this or that project is dangerous, that this structural change poses a threat, and that you will regret voting in favor of it one day against our positions.”
