Kazakhstan Tightens Entry and Stay Regulations

Kazakhstan's authorities have revised the entry and stay regulations for tourists, including citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

The corresponding decision by the government of the Republic was published on Tuesday, January 17, on the official website of Kazakhstan's regulatory legal acts, according to Lenta.ru.

Under the new rules, foreign nationals entering the Asian country without a visa can legally stay in the Republic for 30 days, with a total of up to 90 days within a 180-day calendar period.

As reported by the media, citizens from EEU countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) arriving in Kazakhstan also have the right to stay in the Republic for 90 days within a 180-day calendar period. Previously, there was no 180-day limitation. Visitors could 'reset' the allowed length of stay simply by leaving the country and returning.

It was previously reported that after the announcement of partial mobilization in the Russian Federation, more than 200,000 citizens from Russia traveled to Kazakhstan in late September to early October. According to data from the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, by the end of November 2022, 1.66 million Russians had entered Kazakhstan, while 1.64 million had left.
